Aniekan is an experienced international trade lawyer, trade policy and trade facilitation adviser, and an accomplished author. He is a 2022 Emerald Literati Awards winner. His expertise spans WTO law, private sector development, trade capacity building, policy research, and analysis. He regularly provides technical assistance to the private sector, government agencies in Nigeria, development agencies in Nigeria, and the ECOWAS Commission, on WTO Law, trade policy formulation and implementation, and trade facilitation. He is currently assisting the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat and its State Parties in the operationalisation of the AfCFTA Implementation Review Mechanism (AFIRM). Aniekan has over 15 years’ experience in appraising and managing technical assistance projects, both as an in-house advisor and an independent consultant.
He regularly coordinates public-private sector engagements on a wide range of private sector development and public policy issues in Nigeria and has been a speaker/resource person at several international and local Conferences/Workshops. Aniekan holds a PhD in International Trade Law from Wageningen University, the Netherlands. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, UK and is licensed to practice law in Nigeria.
